Jan/Feb Art Course - Southwick

Service Description

This 5 session course is ideal for those with a little previous experience who would like to take their art to the next level. Over the course of 5 weeks, we will look at impressionist and post-impressionist artists' work to be inspired by their techniques and subject matter. We'll explore a wide range of different materials and develop drawing and painting skills. In each session you will study a famous work of art and create your own interpretation. Artists and artworks will be carefully selected to inspire a range of approaches and will provide opportunities to explore portraiture, figure drawing, still life and abstraction. By the end of the course you will have a greater knowledge of the artists and art history covered as well as practical experience that will help you make art long after the course finishes. Not to mention several beautiful works of art! Materials will be provided but where possible you are encouraged to bring your own supplies if you have them. You may also wish to bring along an A3 plastic folder or similar to take your work home. Workshops take place in the Deall Room, Southwick Community Centre, 24 Southwick St, Southwick, BN42 4TE (Please note - class includes a 15 minute break. Biscuits are included in the course price and teas/coffees are available to purchase from the cafe should you so wish - or bring a flask!) This listing is for the whole 5 week course.
